Using Essential Oils in the Bath for Aching Muscles
Nov 3rd, 2008 by lindasmith
This weekend I worked in my gardens for the past two days pulling weeds, mulching and generally putting my flower beds to bed for the winter. Oh my aching back and legs and arms! Can you identify? Once again essential oils can come to the rescue. Soaking in a warm tub with essential oils like marjoram, cypress, juniper or even wintergreen can greatly help sore muscles from over doing it.
One word of caution–you don’t want to just sprinkle an essential oil onto the bath water–essential oils and water don’t mix and will therefore float on top. It’s best to mix the essential oils in a dispersing agent first, like bath salts, epson salts or even add in a half cup of milk–anything that will aid the oils to disperse through the bath water.
After bathing, use a good massage oil to which you can add more essential oils like those already mentioned or blends like Aroma Siez which contains basil, marjoram, lavender, peppermint, and cypress. Work the oil into tired muscles that have been over-stretched.
