Thanksgiving Recipes Using Essential Oils – The Sweet Pototoes
Nov 25th, 2008 by lindasmith
This week’s blog posts will be on using essential oils for cooking thanksgiving dinner. The sweet pototoes are my favorite side dish. Instead of using frozen or canned sweet pototoes (bhah!) try baking some yams and use essential oils which are nature’s concentrated flavors for taste. Some might ask if these oils are edible? Absolutely and they are therapeutic as well.
You will be using nutmeg and cinnamon bark essential oils. Remember–these are concentrated, so you will only need one drop of each.
Set the oven for 350. I prefer to use yams rather than the paler sweet pototoes–they have more flavor than sweet pototoes. Peel them and cut them into chunks. Here are all the ingredients:
4 large yams
3/4 cup blue agave (much better than brown sugar)
1 drop of cinnamon bark oil
1 drop of nutmeg oil
2 Tbs. unsalted butter, melted
throw in some nuts if you are not allergic–walnuts are the best
Mix everything together and coat the yams—then bake for about 45 minutes or until the yams are nice and soft. I have done this recipe several times and love it–so do my guests.
