Thanksgiving Recipes Using Essential Oils–The Cranberry Relish
Nov 26th, 2008 by lindasmith
Ah, the cranberry relish–an absolute necessity for the Thanksgiving turkey dinner. Essential oils which are nature’s concentrated flavors can greatly enhance the taste of cranberries which tend to be on the tart side. In this recipe, let’s not use sugar but rather–Blue Agave which comes from the agave plant in Mexico. It is a natural sweetener with a low glycemic index making it good for diabetics as well.
Here are the ingredients:
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup Blue agave
- 12 ox package of cranberries
- 2 drops of orange essential oil
Mix the water and agave together and bring to a boil. Then add the berries and return to a boil. Reduce the heat and gently boil for about 10-15 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool. When you are ready to refrigerate–only then add the 2 drops of orange essential oil and stir to mix well. You will be pleasantly surprised as the rich flavor those 2 drops will add to the cranberries and so will your guests.
