Sneezing Attacks–Can Essential Oils Help Allergies?
Nov 10th, 2008 by lindasmith
I just had a allergy sneezing attack from out of the blue. What constitutes a sneezing attack? Well for me it is sneezing 5-7 times in a role without time to get my breath. It begins with a slight tickle inside my nose and progresses quickly to full blown sneezes as the body tries to get rid of the offending airborn allergen. It could be from pollen in the air, to animal hair, feathers or even dust mites. Of course, you will not find dust mites in my house! This causes the release of histamines which in turn causes inflammation of the nasal passages, sinuses and eyelids with lots of mucus and itchy reddened eyes.
With essential oiils in my arsenal, there is no need to run for the over-the-counter antihistamines. Harmony essential oil blend is my favorite oil blend. It contains over 17 different essential oils that together form a haromonic balance that is beneficial in reducing stress and amplifying well-being. You can directly inhale this oil, add to bath water, or diffuse it. I like to directly apply this oil for the greatest benefit. I put it directly under my nose and on my upper chest to deal with the allergic attack.
Another great oil for allergies is German Chamomile. I am diffusing it right now to deal with my symptoms. Dark blue in color, German chamomile does not have one of the more pleasing flower fragrances, in fact it smells like weeds. But if it gets rid of symptoms, it is good in my book.
