Ginger–An Essential Oil to Amplify the Law of Attraction
Jan 18th, 2009 by lindasmith
Our next essential oil in our look at abundance is ginger. It was highly prized in ancient days and people felt it amplified the law of attraction. It brought abundance and wealth to one’s family. Many will be familiar with the ginger root. We actually get the oil from steam distilling these roots. This is one of the porducts that traveled the “spice route” from Asia to Europe. The Greeks and Romans of ancient times used a lot of ginger in their cooking. In the 16th century, the conquistadores introduced the cultivation of ginger to the West Indies where it was rapidly naturalized. Many believe that Jamaican ginger is the best variety in the world.
Ginger is best known for its ability to sooth the digestive tract. It’s great for relieving gas bubbles. Hildegard of Binger used it for skin and digestive problems in the 12th century.
Today we consider ginger to have anti-inflammatory, anticoagulant, anesthetic, and expectorant properties besides being a digestive aid. This is another warming oil making it good for muscular aches and pains. It’s great for motion sickness, weight loss and for morning sickness.
Ginger would be one of my oils of choice to use in nursing homes. It is well known that as we age, our taste buds give out and we lose our ability to taste much of anything. Many in nursing homes lose their desire to eat. Studies have shown that simply diffusing ginger 15 minutes before meal times can encourage many to eat who otherwise would not be interested.
Ginger is a fragrance of valor and courage. It helps the fainthearted and the weak, giving a sense of being capable and strong to meet challenges. It encourages warmth, empathy, courage, assurance, optimism, and liberation.
