Fall Allergies–Can Essential Oils Rescue our Sufferings?
Nov 2nd, 2008 by lindasmith
It is very dry here in Colorado and we are having a wonderfully warm extended fall. However, that can bring lots of allergens into the air. All those weeds we fought all summer and gave up on are now sending their seeds into the air for next year along with that “stuff” that makes us sneeze and clog up our sinuses. Is there any relief from these symptoms without using all those drugs advertised on television? Or even all the over-the-counter drugs that are found in every store?
Essential Oils Can Come to the Rescue
Young Living’s R.C. blend is my favorite. It contains three kinds of eucalyptus, myrtle, pine, spruce, marjoram, lavender, cypress, and peppermint. I usually alternate R.C. with Young Living’s Raven blend which contains ravensara, eucalyptus radiata, peppermint, wintergreen and lemon. Both of these blends will help keep nasal passages open. But what can we use to stop the sneezing and the allergic rhinitis (hay fever)? Try Young Living’s Harmony blend. It contains geranium, rosewood, lavender, sandalwood, frankincense, orange, lemon, angelica, hyssop, Spanish sage, jasmine, Roman chamomile, bergamot, ylang ylang, palmarosa, rose and spruce. Whee! This blend not only smells wonderful, it works. I use a little on my solar plexus (stomach) area every day. You can diffuse it, or use it topically. Be careful though–it does have three ingredients which are phototoxic meaning they can cause skin reactions if you go out in the sun.
